Meeting the XO

Posted on Mon Dec 3rd, 2018 @ 10:31am by Lieutenant Commander Tyhr Th'rhaatress & Commander Giles Price

Mission: Getting underway

S'Relli stood on the bridge of the Nova refit USS Axca, somewhat in disbelief. It wasn't that long before he'd been second officer of the Ambassador class Yukon, now he had a ship of his own. The caitian took a seat in the command chair, hoping the eerie silence would be broken by someone. He'd even accept a Kzinti at that moment. He'd received word that an XO would be arriving, so he'd left word of his own that he'd be on the bridge.

"I guess we wait." he said to the empty room

Giles stood there staring out of the window in his quarters as the Boston slowly slipped into spacedock seeing the large structure moving into view. Piles of boxes and the 2 suitcases one with a tatty duffel bag on top stood stacked in one corner of the room ready to be collected to head to the next ship. Price knew it was the end of the road for this ship but the start of another magical adventure on a new ship. He grabbed the 2 suitcases and flung the tatty bag over the shoulder and headed for the shuttle bay as the ship shuddered making firm locking contact with the moorings as he headed for the nearest turbolift. He eventually made it to the shuttle bay as it was now a hive of activity as shuttles arrived and departed taking crew away or bringing crew to decommission the old gal watching the activity. He stood in line to receive instructions from the Station Quartermaster who handed him a pad and pointed the the tiny shuttle in the corner of the bay.

Giles took the padd from the front pocket of one of the command red wheeled suitcases and stuck it under his arm zipping it up he returned to head for the shuttle. Price had to show the padd to the pilot of the craft and was ushered into the rear of the craft retracting the handles on both cases and storing them alongside the duffel he took a seat. The ramp hissed closed with a thud that shook the ship as the engines whirred to life as chatter came from the front requesting clearance to depart for the new adventure and off it went. The shuttle exited the bay and made a pass by side of the spacedock before dipping down and to the left and away from the structure Giles could see from the flight deck windows similar structures and was interupted with the chatter requesting the pilot clearance to head to a specified dock. The shuttle roared through the space twisting and turning avoiding traffic as it was given clearance from the dock master to approach the stardock directly in front of the craft.

The shuttle made its way towards the shuttle bay of the tiny vessel moored within the large space of the dock looking magnificent. The shuttle was given clearance to land in the bay aboard the tiny ship as it made a thud as the bottom of the craft contacted the floor of the shuttle bay as Giles got his gear together to depart. The pilot opened the ramp and asked me to disembark to which Price did hearing the clatter of the suitcase wheels on the ramp as a red shirted crew member ushered myself quickly out of the bay as the shuttle was heard behind the doors take off to which the crew member spoke "Welcome to the Axca Commander the Captain is waiting for you on the bridge" Giles nodded to the crew member and he scuttled off.

Giles found the nearest turbolift and called for the deck his quarters where on it sped upwards then slowed down and stopped as the door hissed open. He scurried towards his room making sure the tatty duffel wast going to fall off his shoulder he pressed some buttons and the door to his room opened as he stepped in looking at the sort of empty room. Price dumped his bags by the door and scurried into the bathroom to neaten up the uniform before meeting his CO it was best to make an impression rather than look scruffy he tugged on the uniform and brushed it down with his hand to try and flatten some of the bigger creases and exited for the door. He grabbed a brush out of the top of the duffel and gave his hair a bit of a tidy and dropped it on the floor as he exited for the nearest turbolift.

Meanwhile S;relli paced about the Axcas rather small bridge, a million thoughts running through his head. Mainly centering around whether or not he was suited for command. Not too recently he was only a second officer on an aging ambassador class. And he wasn't even there long. But eventually his legs got tired. Needing a rest he popped in the ready room at his desk. Feeling parched, he turned to the replicator. "Raktajino." he ordered.

"Unable to comply. that product is not yet in my database." the computer chimed in. Which resulted in a caitian eye roll

"Hot chocolate?"

S'relli was delighted as his drink materialized

Price stepped out of the turbolift as he noticed the captain turn round with a look on his face like the drink in his hand was still too warm to drink

"Oh. Welcome, Commander." S'relli said, addressing the man by rank. "We'll let this rest I think." he said. "Welcome the the USS Axca." he smiled, taking a seat at the helm. "Am I to assume that you're Commander Price?"

"Indeed I am" Price replied

"Pleasure." The Caitian replied. "Commander S'relli. Formerly second officer of the USS Yukon. Adjusting in ship size. Coming from an ambassador."

"Iv been on many sizes so over the the years have learned to adapt to the new ships and roles mostly border cutters before the Ambassador. Iv seen people come and go even die in front of my very eyes but overall iv herd interesting stories about you" Price replied

"Interesting, eh?" He purred. "Interesting good or bad?" He chuckled.

"Just interesting interesting" Giles replied

"Glad to hear that." The caitian replied

"So what now" Price asked

"I was actually just checking out the bridge. I have a meeting with Starfleet pretty soon. Could you see to supplies while I see the brass?"

"Brass are you in trouble or something and ill keep things ship shape whilst your gone" Giles spoke

"I have no doubt. Lemme see what the Admiral wants" he sighed.
